Being affiliated to CCCC First Harbor Consultants Company Ltd., a leading design and investigation enterprise in the field of port and waterway engineering, Investigation and Geotechnical Engineering Department (Engineering Test Centre) mainly undertakes geotechnical works such as geological investigation, maritime mapping, engineering survey, oceanographic observation, maritime environment investigation, monitoring & testing of structure and foundation etc., with its business scope covers different fields including waterway, marine engineering, highway, railway, building, military works, power supply and public works. The department holds such certificates of class A qualification for comprehensive investigation, maritime mapping, marine works investigation, testing of road & waterway engineering, the certificate of qualification for testing of construction work quality as well as CMA certificate by Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China.

For many years, the department has been focusing on the training and introduction of high-quality talents, which leads to a business team with strong technical force. Approx. 120 employees consist of 7 professor senior engineers, 61 senior engineers, 15 engineers, and 23 assistant engineers. Among them, there are 18 registered geotechnical engineers, 7 registered surveyors, 7 registered construction engineers (level-1), 1 registered consulting engineer, 2 registered safety engineers, 48 marine structure testing engineers, and 26 highway works testing engineers.

The department has successively undertaken the projects related to thousands of ports, terminals, waterways, offshore oil fields, offshore wind power, nuclear power, reservoirs, highways, bridges, and public works etc. in China and abroad, with the business scope covers many countries and areas in Asia, Africa and South America.
